Herring Gut Silent Art Auction Tonight at Highlands Coffee House
On Wednesday, July 30th at 6 p.m., The Highlands Coffee House on Main Street in Thomaston will host an event to benefit the Herring Gut Learning Center. Herring Gut has had a remarkable impact on the lives of young people in mid-coast Maine and our community. The evening will be open to families, adults, children and guests and will include live music as well as light food and refreshments, a cash bar and a silent art auction.
We are looking forward to a fun evening and the opportunity to thank supporters and introduce Herring Gut to people who may be new to the school's unique programs of education in marine science.
"Last year's auction was a wonderful way to explain how Herring Gut has offered unique, effective marine science and aquaculture-based programs for students, teachers and the community for over 15 years," says Wes Todd, Herring Gut Executive Director. "We are looking forward to collaborating with The Highlands Coffee House again and are astounded by the generosity of the art community. This event will have pieces by Jamie Wyeth, Fred Kellogg, Anna B. McCoy, and Peter Ralston as well as many others."
Founded in 1999, Herring Gut Learning Center is a non-profit education center in Port Clyde, Maine that partners with public schools to engage students and teachers in hands-on aquaculture and marine science programs, provides professional development opportunities for k-12 teachers, and offers a summer first work experience for young teens.
