Heritage quilt goes on view

“Carolina Lily,” a circa 1855 quilt, brings bit of spring into the Waldoboro Public Library.

Waldoboro — Waldoboro Public Library and the Waldoborough Historical Society have collaborated in displaying a second antique quilt. “Carolina Lily” will hang in the library’s main room through April.

From the Society’s Storer Collection, the circa 1855 coverlet is hand-pieced and -quilted and has been documented by Maine Quilt Heritage.  Each flower is assembled from three distinct pieces appliqued on a white background that together form a triangle, which alternates with other plain white sections.

Waldoborough Historical Society’s antique rugs and quilts may be viewed at the museum June through September. The library is located in the village at 958 Main St./Route 220.
