Hearing loss is the third most common physical condition in the United States, affecting more than 38 million people. While hearing aids can help some, many people are still struggling to hear. The good news is that there are advanced treatment options that may be able to help. At Pen Bay Ear, Nose, and Throat we are pleased to offer the Baha hearing implant system which is designed for people with single sided deafness and for people with conductive hearing loss from either disease or prior surgery.
Attend a free hearing loss education session on Tuesday, November 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Pen Bay Medical Center in the Physicians Building, Hitchings Conference room, presented by Elizabeth Fairchild, Territory Representative with Cochlear Americas and Parker Chamberlin, MD, Pen Bay Ear, Nose and Throat Services. Also meet Gary Friedman, who has 33 years experience as an audiologist with an emphasis on hearing rehabilitation.
During this health seminar:
- Test an implant and hear the results for yourself
- Speak with medical professionals and try the bone conduction system for free
- Learn about coverage by most insurance plans including Medicare or Medicaid
"I have found the Baha to be a great option for people with conductive hearing difficulties from chronic ear disease, prior mastoidectomy surgery and single-sided deafness," says Dr. Chamberlin.
The Cochlear Baha system helps people with mixed or conductive hearing loss as well as single-sided deafness. In other words if you've had issues with your outer or middle ear the Baha could be a great solution for you. We encourage you to come to this educational seminar learn about the product and then see if this is something that could benefit you. At the seminar you will also hear from a current Baha user about his journey.
A Baha implant is a life-changing event to many patients with hearing losses that are not effectively managed with well-fit hearing aids.
