Healthful eating for the holiday
Union — Ann Parent, registered dietitian from Warren, will speak Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. at Vose Library in Union, as part of the library’s fall focus on health. Parent will speak on healthful eating for the holidays.
The holidays are often approached with concern by those who are trying to adapt their lifestyles to include more nutritious diets. Many see the holidays as a deal breaker when trying to follow diabetic or heart healthy diets. Parent will discuss ways in which the foods we enjoy at the holidays can be aligned with recommendations for a nutritious diet; focusing on what is enjoyable to eat at the holidays rather than what must be avoided.
Parent has lived and worked in the Midcoast for 34 years. She worked at Pen Bay Medical Center before leaving to specialize in geriatric nutrition. She is currently employed by Genesis Healthcare as well as providing consultation to Quarry Hill Retirement Community.
This program is free and open to the public. For more information, call Vose Library at 785-4733.
