Hartstone Inn Holds Food Drive to Benefit Camden Food Pantry

The staff at the Hartstone Inn in Camden donated over 350 nonperishable food items to the Camden Food Pantry today, just in time for Christmas.  "The staff decided that they wanted to collectively do something to give back to the community this holiday season.  With hunger being such a prevalent issue nationwide, a food drive was an idea that was unanimously liked." said Mary Jo Brink, co-owner of the Hartstone Inn.  "The staff broke into two teams and made it a contest to see which team could collect the most individual items.  Good, friendly competition is always motivational." added Brink.  Items ranging from baking supplies to canned vegetables, pasta, beans, rice and more were all collected.  Staff members both purchased items and solicited friends and family members.  "Everyone was really thrilled to see the sum total of what we had collected.  The food drive built comradery and reminded all of us that even a small group of people can have an impact - even if they help to feed only a handful of families.  I think it may become an annual event for us each Christmas."
