Harbor Square launches Sunday series
Rockland — Harbor Square Gallery, 374 Main St., will present Second Sunday, a monthly series that will include music, poetry, artist talks and more; suggestions from the community are welcomed. The inaugural event, however, has been postponed to the third Sunday, Feb. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. Everyone is still invited to bring loved ones and celebrate Valentine's Day with the music of husband-and-wife duo John and Rachel Nicholas; and special guest David Dodson.
John and Rachel Nicholas have been making music together for more than 30 years. Their original songs are steeped in the varied history of folk and popular music, and their lyrics tell stories that are deep and true. They sing of pain, hope, love, loss and the comedies and everyday worries of the human heart. It has been said they sing with just a little too much soul to be traditional folk singers but not quite enough hair gel to win on “American Idol.”
Dodson writes great songs that run the gamut of American styles including folk, rock, blues, jazz and country; and they cover a variety of topics and range from poignant to hilarious. He plays a mean guitar, tells a good story, sings like a bird and he's got rhythm — who could ask for anything more?
