Hands on the Mountain trail care day

May 10, 2017
A half-day of trail work is planned for Saturday, May 20 at Ragged Mountain.

Camden — Coastal Mountains Land Trust is hosting Hands on the Mountain, a half day of trail work on Ragged Mountain in celebration of conservation and recreation on Saturday May 20, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Give back to the mountain and join fellow hikers, bikers, skiers and lovers of Ragged Mountain for a half day of trail work. Meet at Camden Snow Bowl at 8:45 a.m., and then participants will disperse in smaller groups to tackle trail projects at the Camden Snow Bowl, Coastal Mountains Land Trust’s Ragged Mountain Preserve, the Georges Highland Path, and the Goose River mountain bike area. Tasks will include installing new intersection signs, building new mountain bike trail, and working on problem wet spots. Lunch and drinks are provided by Boynton McKay and Baxter Brewing. All physical abilities welcome, bring water, gloves, and trail tools (shovel, rake, pick axe, loppers/handsaw). Please RSVP to 236-7091 or info@coastalmountains.org to ensure there is plenty of food and projects.

This event is the first of a series of 2017 community events that the land trust is organizing to support and raise awareness about the Round the Mountain Collaboration, a community-based effort, led by Coastal Mountains Land Trust, to permanently conserve the community’s water supply and open space on Ragged Mountain, and develop the Round the Mountain Trail system. The collaboration’s goal is to protect the water supply for six coastal communities, conserve more than 1,400 acres of land and build the proposed 9-mile Round the Mountain Trail.
