Rockland — "A Show of Hands," ink drawings by Ruth Ann Keister of Rockland, will hang through Aug. 4 in the Cafe Gallery of Good Tern Natural Foods Co-Op, 750 Main St.

Keister is a visual artist and poet who is intrigued with hands, which she considers the most fascinating parts of the body. She appreciates their complex structure and their myriad uses: climbing trees, writing, lifting, scratching one's back, etc. Another way to see, she said, is with one's hands, that they are like a second sight.

"Sometimes I close my eyes and hold something, like a piece of silk or lamb's wool, because our hands seem to become more aware of what we're holding," she said.

The Good Tern is open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 594-8822.
