Waldoboro — As a part of Hall’s mission to provide families care and support after the passing of a loved one, Hall’s has started a grief support group called Good Grief. The group will meet the second Tuesday of the month at Hall’s Tribute Center of Waldoboro, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. This is a safe environment for anyone who has experienced a loss to share stories, concerns while working through their grief.

The leader and facilitator of Good Grief is familiar to many in the community. Robin E. Honaker, M.Div. in Counseling, is the Congregational Minister of the Pilgrim Community Church in Camden and has worked with Hall’s for three years as Tribute Team Leader.

Honaker has years of experience helping people with grief. According to Honaker, “I have been there, I am there, and will continue to live in this reality of loss. In the past eight years, I have lost a sister, a father, and a daughter; and the levels of grief is different in each of the losses — the losses were real but now there is hope.” Honaker understands and wants to help families see a brighter future in their grief.

Honaker’s thoughts ring true: “Grieving is hard. Living is hard. It is the hard things in life that make us real. It is the struggle with which we contend that will turn us into a beautiful example of life. Like a butterfly, she fights, struggles, twists and bends to get out of the chrysalis and in doing so, she is strengthened for flight. As with us, grief can make us stronger individuals for ourselves and for others. We need to go through the pain and battle to fly free.”

According to Mike Hall, owner of Hall’s Tribute Centers, “In our experience, we know that grief is a process that takes time. It can be difficult, but it is vital to go through. This is a wonderful addition to our After Care program where we send four grief booklets, called “Journeying through Grief”, to families throughout the first year after the loss of a loved one. Hall went on to say “We are grateful to Robin and Pilgrim Community Church for supporting us in our mission”

Good Grief support group will be held at Hall’s Tribute Center in Waldoboro the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and Hall’s signature chocolate chip cookies will be served. All are welcome to attend whether they have used Hall’s services or not, the group will be there to discuss the struggles people go through after the loss of a loved one.

More grief support groups are planned in Boothbay and Thomaston in the future but for now, all are invited to Waldoboro to participate or just listen.
