Ellsworth — Nonprofit and public organizations seeking funding for projects that draw on the strengths of the community and foster collaboration are encouraged to apply to the Knox County Fund, part of the Maine Community Foundation’s Community Building Grant Program.

A volunteer committee of Knox County residents and business leaders reviews grants and makes recommendations for funding. The deadline for applying is Saturday, Feb. 15. Application and guidelines are available at mainecf.org.

In 2013, grants included $4,500 to the William A. Farnsworth Library and Art Museum, Rockland, to purchase a portable tour guide system; $5,000 to the Camden International Film Festival to develop a new website and database; and $5,000 to the American Lighthouse Foundation, Rockland, to improve public access and visitor experiences at Owls Head Lighthouse.

With offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation works with donors and other partners to improve the quality of life for all Maine people. To learn more about the foundation, visit mainecf.org.
