Camden — Children’s House Montessori School announces that faculty member Jackie Grannis-Phoenix has been selected as a 2017 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow by the National Geographic Society in recognition of her commitment to geographic education.

Grannis-Phoenix was selected from a pool of 500 as one of 35 applicants to receive this fellowship. During the week of May 15, she traveled to Alaska onboard a Lindblad expedition ship to work with professionals in the field to enhance geographic knowledge and gain hands-on field experience which she will bring back to the school’s classrooms and community.

Accompanied by Lindblad-National Geographic expedition experts, ranging from undersea specialists to National Geographic photographers, these educationally-oriented voyages allow guests to interact with leading scientists, naturalists, and researchers while discovering stunning natural and cultural environments. The Fellows will experience landscapes, cultures, and wildlife unique to their regions of exploration and give them new knowledge to share upon their return.
