Gladys M. Dyer
Waldoboro — Gladys M. Dyer, 97, of Waldoboro, passed away March 15, 2014, at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta after an extended period of declining health.
Gladys was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Union, the second of 11 children born to Arthur and Bernice Morey Philbrook.
She attended Appleton schools, and was married to Leroy Dyer for 60 years before his passing in 1993.
She was a dedicated and loyal housekeeper to Doctors Richard and Dorothy Waterman and family, and also worked at Maplewood Poultry in Belfast. She loved canning and freezing her harvest each year. Well-known for her caring ways and excellent cooking, her family enjoyed the Sunday dinners she held at her home.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, husband Roy in 1993 and son Donald in 2012, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son, Clayton of Sun City Center, Fla. and South Portland; daughter, Maxine Poland and husband Jim of Round Pond, whom she often referred to as her favorite son-in-law; sisters, Christine Robbins and husband Neil of Union, Geneva Kinney of Warren; grandchildren, Debra Genthner and husband Rick, Susan Hernandez and husband Dennis, James L. Poland and Stacy, Cynthia Blodgett and husband Seth, Leonard Dyer, Randall Dyer and wife Dawn, Carol Shaw and husband Ed, Stacy Dyer and wife Star, Kim Strong and Jounda, David Kearns, Dana Dyer and wife Lelia, Darren Dyer and wife Bethany, Donald Dyer and wife Kelly, and Douglas Dyer; 23 great-grandchildren; more than 20 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; very special niece, Ramona Dennison of Thomaston.
