Giroux named Pen Bay Healthcare Employee of the Month
Rockport — "Ann Giroux, Ob/Gyn Support Partner at Pen Bay Medical Center for five years, is an exemplary example of Excellence Always… she picks up extra shifts, stays late if needed and works very hard to make a patient's stay and discharge smoother for them and for staff," said a fellow worker of this Pen Bay Healthcare employee of the month honoree, in a news release.
In her position as a support partner, Giroux communicates with many departments and individuals on a daily basis, including but not limited to, nutritional services, environmental services, laboratory, distribution, pharmacy and the Women's Health office. She receives consistent high praise from ancillary workers and patients about her cheerful, friendly disposition. Her attitude? "I'm here to help you nurses in whatever way I can." She often brings snacks or linens to the patient's room and takes the time to offer help to anyone including staff.
Giroux does everything from restocking linens and supplies after births to collecting and processing the birth information and ensuring it is received by the state within the mandatory 48-hour time frame. In spite of her myriad duties that also include processing lab, pharmacy and patient medical records, she greets everyone: staff, providers, patients and families with a big smile and a hearty "hello."
Many refer to Giroux as "sweetie" and a "good person with a huge heart." Most persons who come to the Birth Center enjoy stopping by her desk to chat with her.
Giroux's co-worker Su Martin said, "Ann and I jobshare our position. She is the best worker and very reliable. In an instant's notice, if it is busy, she will come in or stay late. Giroux is a great friend, a wonderful person, and you can count on her for almost anything. She goes above and beyond her duty as one of the Support Partners." This is just one of many praises by Ann Giroux's colleagues in the Birth Center at Pen Bay Medical Center in support of her nomination as Employee of the Month.
"I feel very honored to work with all the dedicated, hardworking people at Pen Bay. This honor could have gone to anybody. I am fortunate to work with a friendly and kind group of people," Giroux said.
A Massachusetts native and now a resident of Rockland, Giroux has worked at Pen Bay for seven years. She enjoys spending time with her family and four grandchildren, baking or just enjoying nature when not at work.
Pen Bay celebrated Giroux's selection as Employee of the Month with a surprise party and numerous colleagues dropped in to congratulate her.
