Getty offers mementos workshop
Camden — Diane Getty, Camden Public Library's Artist of the Month for August, will lead a Souvenirs and Mementos workshop Saturday, Aug. 4 at the downtown library. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Getty's exhibition in the Picker Room is titled "Bits and Pieces: Mixed Media Collage and Assemblage,” and her workshop will explore ways to enshrine favorite small objects by rescuing them from being tucked away in drawers, trinket boxes, desks, etc., and enjoying them in an artistic setting. Cigar boxes, paint, paper and glue will be provided to help participants create a personal and permanent arrangement of their treasures.
Getty suggests bringing small objects, perhaps copies of photos rather than originals, plus extra supplies and items to share on a Swap Shop table. The workshop is free, with donations accepted, a geared towards those 16 and older. Registration is requested by calling 236-3440. Participants should bring a brown bag lunch.
