Getting Ready for the 2012 Maine Home+Design Show in Rockport
Rockport — The back wall of my office is currently occupied with a large display board while Chamber staffers Robin McIntosh and Alicia Bagnall enthuse over great scenic shots of our region and debate which ones will make the cut for our booth at this year's Maine Home+Design Show.
The show began as the Maine Contractors & Builders show and grew to first encompass the Chamber's efforts and since 2009 the efforts of Maine Home+Design magazine. It has become a great celebration of talent, creativity, and expertise from across Maine, but specifically from here in the midcoast. The number of local businesses taking part is wonderful and offers our region a great chance to shine the light on our folks.
In a smart piece of scheduling, the Maine Home+Design Show and Cellardoor Winery's early summer events coincide this year to create an idyllic long-weekend vacation idea on Maine's picturesque Midcoast.
The Maine Home+Design Show is Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1. It will bring the pages of the magazine to life in a specially constructed tent at the Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport. The show features more than 150 exhibitors, the AIA Pavilion, and a pop-up gallery of works from Art Collector Maine. The intent of the show is to have guests feel like they are walking into a living version of Maine Home+Design.
Held in downtown Rockport, Maine on June 28, Pop the Cork 2012 is Cellardoor Winery and Megunticook Market's annual celebration of the start of summer featuring wine tastings, inspired food, and a very special concert by four-time Grammy award winners, Boyz II Men. All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Midcoast Habitat for Humanity.
The Maine Home+Design Show is made possible in part by its generous sponsors: J.C.Stone Inc., A.E.Sampson & Son, Phi Home Designs, and Legacy Properties/Sotheby's International Realty. It is presented in conjunction with the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Maine Contractors and Builders Alliance.
