Georges River Land Trust director to speak in Camden
Camden — Gail Presley, executive director of the Georges River Land Trust, will tell the August meeting of the Camden Garden Club about the work the Trust does to conserve and steward the natural resources of this Midcoast river’s watershed.
The public is welcome to attend: Thursday, Aug. 28, at 9:30 a.m. at The Congregational Church, Elm Street, Camden. Come at 9 a.m. for refreshments before the program.
The Camden Garden Club is in its 99th year of educating about the art of gardening and developing and preserving beauty in and around Camden – like the trademark hanging red geranium baskets on lamp posts in summer and lighted wreaths in winter, the Camden Tree Program, maintaining the Village Green, planting beds and boxes all over, and giving scholarships to area students in horticulture-related studies.
Camden is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc. Meetings, including programs, begin each April, and end in October, making way for the Club’s Christmas projects and in February, the Winter Horticulture five-week series. New members are always welcome. For more information, check camdengardenclub.com.
