Georg Frideric to Charlie Brown
Rockland — From the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Georg Frideric Handel's “Messiah” to "A Charlie Brown Christmas," there will be something for everyone at the holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 156 Lakeview Drive/Route 17.
The Bay Winds North Wind Ensemble and Breakers Jazz — now in their fourth year as community-based instrumental musical ensembles — are staffed by local musicians ranging in age from high school to retirees. Bay Winds and Breakers Jazz perform for community events during the year as well as for private functions ranging from parades and outdoor concerts to formal programs.
Breakers Jazz will open the holiday program with seasonal favorites including "Baby, It's Cold Outside," "Santa Baby," "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "We Three Kings" and "Feliz Navidad." Bay Winds will continue with an exciting arrangement of "Into the Storm," "Shepherd's Hey," "Still, Still, Still" accompanied by members of a children's choir, a whimsical version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," "Silver Sleigh" and other selections.
The program will conclude with a choral/instrumental presentation of the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's “Messiah.” Marlene Hall is the musical director for both groups. There is no admission fee for the program but donations will be gratefully accepted at the conclusion of the concert.
