Garden Club plant sale blooms with Camden businesses
The ever-expanding Camden Garden Club Plant Sale — Plants for Scholars — is moving this year.
As a part of the Downtown Business Group’s weekend event, “Business is Blooming,” the garden club will hold its sale Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under Allen Insurance’s portico, next to the Village Green.
Rhubarb will be back this year, as will many herbs, ferns, and hosta varieties. Of course, the tables will be crowded with the carefully dug and potted abundance chosen from members’ perennial borders. Gardeners learn after a while that it is possible to have too much of a good thing. Dividing, usually every three years, makes healthier, lovelier plants.
As always, proceeds from the Plant Sale go to the club’s Scholarship Program for local college students majoring in horticulture-related studies. If non-members have good, identified plants they’d like to contribute to this important cause, they can call Maureen O’Donnell at 596-5731 during the week before the sale.
