FREE Tri Clinics at the Waldo County YMCA - Join Us!
The Waldo County YMCA will be hosting a trio of FREE clinics on Sunday March 30, 2013. These clinics will be helpful to triathletes of all abilities. Join us for the following talks:
- Beginning at 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., Beth Anderson will give a clinic on INSPIRING TRIATHLETES. Beth is a Northport resident, and triathlete in the 32nd Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon 2012 in San Francisco. As one of the co-chairs of the Waldo County YMCA Family Triathlon Festival, she will help local athletes take their first step toward competing in a triathlon. This clinic will cover a variety of topics for the beginner triathlete such as:
• What to wear • Defining 'brick workout' • How to set up your transition area •
- From 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. Didier Bonner-Ganter, a highly regarded cyclist here in Belfast and a member of the Belfast Bicycle Club will provide valuable information on biking. Beth Anderson will be available to discuss setting up your transition space and answer any specific tri questions. Clinic participants will go out on the tri course, weather permitting.
- Finishing with noon - 12:45 p.m. Jim Wescott, the former coach for Colby College men's cross country and track and field for 25 years will provide valuable information on breathing techniques and stride mechanics.
Join us as you begin your 2013 Waldo County YMCA Triathlon adventure! These talks will be held in conjunction with the 4th Annual Waldo County YMCA Family Triathlon Festival that will be held on May 18, 2013. The Y is gearing up for fun for the whole family! This is a race for everyone, after the full sprint tri in the morning for adults and teens, the children’s triathlons will begin in the afternoon. The event will begin with the swim portion of the race being held in the Tom & Sally Savage Pool Complex at the Waldo County YMCA in Belfast.
