Folk evening in the Velvet Lounge
Rockland — The Velvet Lounge music series of Rock City Café, 316 Main St., will host acoustic singer/songwriters Paddy Mills and Heather Styka Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Mills is a familiar face in the Velvet Lounge, performing songs that, like his life, are defined by the tension between his strong rural roots and insatiable wanderlust. Chicago native and recent Maine transplant Styka, also a writer and poet, writes fresh songs rooted in the folk tradition. In addition to numerous songwriting awards, her 2011 release “Lifeboats for Atlantis” received critical praise.
There is no cover charge, but tipping the musicians is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
