Flyswatter injured in rollover
Camden — A 17-year-old girl told police she was swatting at a fly inside her car prior to crashing it on Route 1 in Camden Sept. 27.
Camden Police Officer Allen Weaver said the girl was driving south and over-corrected the Volvo wagon she was driving after swerving into the opposite lane several times. The vehicle landed upside down in the ditch near 476 Belfast Road.
Weaver said the driver admitted to being on her cellphone until she spotted the fly and attempted to swat it.
She was taken by North East Mobile Health Services to Pen Bay Medical Center to be checked out.
Traffic in both directions was tied up for about 30 minutes as Camden Exxon righted the car and towed it from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
