Five Town, Medomak Valley to battle for 9-10 championshipOceanside eliminated from tourney after one win in three games
Waldoboro — The District 2 Little League 9- and 10-year-old double-elimination softball all-star tournament, which began Thursday, July 10, already is down to its final two teams.
Granted, only three squads participated in the event from the start, but the finals have been set as Medomak Valley (1-0) and Five Town (1-1) will play for all the marbles on Tuesday, July 15 at John Foster Field.
Should Five Town, emerging via the loser's bracket, win Tuesday, a winner-take-all finale will be played on Wednesday, July 16.
Oceanside went 1-2 in the tourney and was eliminated as it fell to Medomak Valley 18-11 July 12 and to Five Town 19-5 in four innings July 13. Oceanside also beat Five Town 19-18 July 10.
All games are on John Foster Field in Waldoboro.

Five Town — Alyssa Bland, Clara Bragg, Jozie Brawn, Olivia Brown, Lili Clement, Hollie Hutchenson, Matalin Luce, Olivia Ogier and Kennedy Peterson. The team is coached by Mike Brown, Julie Brown and Chuck Brawn.
Medomak Valley — Eliza Nelson, Stephanie Morse, Taylor Podrasky, Hannah Lee, Cameron Bains, Lucy Jameson, Zaniah Puchalski, Grace White, Gabriella Parker, Autumn Ripley, Madilyn Simmons and Baylee Stewart. The team is managed by Chris Jameson and coached by Carrie White and Stacy Simmons.
Oceanside — Alexa Barstow, Arianna Cloutier, Autumn Deabler, Katherine Freeman, Autumn Harvey, Lainie Hooper, Anna Kingsbury, Emily Knutsen, Grace Pratt, Sadie Street, Jessica Watkinson and Adrianna Whitamore. The team is managed by Becca Barstow.

At Waldoboro July 13, Five Town eliminated Oceanside from the tournament and prevailed by 14 runs.
Leading Five Town at the plate were Brown (2 runs, RBI), Hutchenson (4 runs, RBI), Clement (4 runs), Ogier (2 runs, 2 RBIs), Bland (run, RBI), Peterson (run), Luce (run, RBI), Peasley (2 runs) and Brawn (2 runs).
For Oceanside, Kingsbury, Street, Cloutier, Pratt and Knutson scored runs, while Pratt added an RBI. Several players may have had hits, but that information was not readily available.
Brown pitched for Five Town, allowing seven hits and seven walks, with seven strikeouts. Kingsbury, Harvey and Barstow pitched for Oceanside, allowing a combined 10 hits and 12 walks, with five strikeouts.
Medomak Valley 18, Oceanside 11
At Waldoboro July 12, Oceanside was sent to the loser's bracket as Medomak Valley prevailed by seven runs. Medomak Valley scored seven runs in the first inning, two in the second, two in the third, five in the fourth and two in the sixth, while Oceanside scored four in the first, two in the third, four in the fourth and one in the sixth.
Leading Medomak Valley at the plate were White (single, run, stolen base), Ripley (3 singles, 3 runs, stolen base), Simmons (2 singles), Morse (4 singles, 4 runs), Parker (single, 2 runs, stolen base), Lee (2 singles, 2 runs, 3 stolen bases), Jameson (2 singles, 2 runs, stolen base) and Bains (single, run).
For Oceanside, Kingsbury (single, 2 runs, 4 stolen bases), Knutson (2 runs, stolen base), Pratt (single, 2 runs, 2 stolen bases), Harvey (run), Hooper (2 runs), Watkinson (2 runs) and Barstow (single) paced the offense.
Morse pitched for Medomak Valley, allowing a combined three hits and 13 walks, with 10 strikeouts. Street, Watkinson and Kingsbury pitched for Oceanside, allowing a combined 16 hits and eight walks, with five strikeouts.
