The Juhannus, or Summer Solstice Festival will be held Saturday, June 21st, 2014, at the Finnish Congregational Church and the Finnish Heritage House on the St. George Road in South Thomaston.  Coffee will be ready at 10:00 a.m., with a variety of Finnish related films to be shown in Jura Hall.  At noon time,  a pot luck meal will be served along with hot dogs on the grill.  Speaker, Betsy Hannula will deliver a talk on the  connection between the Finns of the Westminster area of Massachusetts and those in Mid-Coast Maine.  Also of interest is the Kosti Ruohoma exhibit displayed in the Heritage House.  Beautiful weather is predicted, so come one and all.

Our friends at Montpelier will be hosting a bonfire/pig roast on their grounds beginning at 6:30 on Saturday evening with fireworks and other fun activities, so why not make an entire day of it?  For more information see their web page at
