Find Magic at the Thomaston shelter

Jan 11, 2013
Magic

Our pet pick of the week is Tucker, a 9-month-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Lab mix. Tucker is a very sweet and very active youngster. He is smart and can follow direction, but if you give him an inch he'll take it and more. Not to worry, he is highly trainable (he's already crate trained) and will be a great dog with some basic training and a firm but loving hand. Tucker is friendly and affectionate and will be an ideal companion for an active family. We have more than a dozen dogs at the shelter who are waiting for a home. Stop by and take them for a walk and fetch a new best friend.

Need a little Magic in your life? You can find it at the shelter. Magic is a beautiful, 4-year-old Tortoiseshell cat. She is fine with other cats and will tolerate a well-behaved dog. She came into the shelter as a stray with no identification and no one came looking for her. If she had been wearing an I.D. tag or had been microchipped, we could have reunited her with her family. Give your pet a ticket home, have them wear a collar and I.D. tag and get them micro-chipped.

Microchips and Chocolate Chips. We will be holding a micro-chipping event and bake sale at the Loyal Biscuit  in Rockland on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is only $25, and all proceeds benefit PMHSKC. There is no appointment necessary, simply stop by with your pet. Dogs on leash and cats in carriers please. We will also have fresh, homemade chocolate chip cookies as well as a selection of scrumptious baked goodies available for a donation. Interested in baking for the event, contact Joan at 975-5084.

The board of directors will be holding a special meeting of HSKC members to discuss changes in the organization's bylaws. The meeting will be held on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at Watts Hall, Main St. in Thomaston.

Wish list: (Big Wish) New van for vet runs, gift cards to Walmart and Staples, canned cat food, laundry detergent, large garbage bags, snow blower, sidewalk salt.
