Fest is off, but Feast is on
Rockland — The Rockland Congregational Church has voted to suspend its annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival for 2014. This pageant, which has been performed for the past nine years, will resume in January 2015.
The gala Renaissance Feast, introduced last year, will be held again this year, on Friday, Dec. 6, in the lower level Fellowship Hall beginning 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will be available beginning Monday, Nov. 4, by calling the church at 594-8656.
The King and Queen of the Boar's Head pageant will preside over the Renaissance Feast, and various cast members from the musical production will sing and entertain. One of the most important members of the cast, Charlie the Pot Belly Pig, will add his energies to the festivities. In fact, the mission of the Feast is to contribute all proceeds, above expenses, toward the support of Charlie and all the animals at Zabby's Farm this winter, as they have taken such an active role in the Boar's Head Festival from the very beginning.
The Feast will feature roasted turkey legs, assorted roasted vegetables, assorted cheeses and fruit, hot cider and spiced wine and various Sweet Meats. Reservations can also be made in person at the church, 180 Limerock St.
