Favorite plants for Maine gardens
Camden — The Picker Room at the Camden Library filled to capacity for the first of the Camden Garden Club’s five annual Winter Horticulture Programs. Next Tuesday, Feb.12, Katherine Holland, a landscape designer and owner of Blue Newt Designs in Warren, will talk about Favorite Plants for Maine Gardens. She is back by popular demand after last winter delighting the group with her presentation on Remaking Queset Garden in Easton, Mass.
The lectures are every Tuesday in February, at 10 a.m. in the Picker Room. The remaining topics are The Rise of American Gardening in the 19th Century on Feb.19, and Dancing with Dahlias on the Feb. 26. All are free.
The Camden Garden Club is entering its 98th year of cultivating the art of gardening, developing and preserving beauty in and around Camden, and promoting civic improvements and conservation of natural resources. It’s a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine. Meetings are open to everyone and new members are always welcome.
Days are getting longer and the garden catalogs have piled up. What better time to start dreaming of spring?
