Father's Day Wine and Cheese

Treat Dad right this Father's Day with a scenic trip to Union for great food and drinks. Once again, we will be teaming up with Sweetgrass Farm Winery and Distillery to offer Dad a memorable day of wine, spirits, and cheese. This year we will host State of Maine Cheese Company of Rockport, celebrating their 30th anniversary producing hand crafted award winning cheeses. There will be many flavor combinations to sample, perhaps you will try Old Orchard Black Olive paired with Come Spring, Mt. Kineo Caerphilly with the popular Georges River White wine, or Katahdin Cheddar paired with Nor’easter, the only estate grown grape port in Maine.
Also on hand will be “Si” Sibole, master wood worker, proprietor of Humble Wood in Union. Specializing in custom hand crafted furniture, Si will be available to discuss his creative process and showcase examples of his fine workmanship. During your visit, take a walk to the vineyard to see ours grapes in full bloom and to find a surprise. Jay Sawyer of Stemwinder Sculpture Works & Gardens of Warren will display a piece of art for all to enjoy. Jay, who has an appreciation for natural beauty and for not throwing anything away, has merged these attributes into his art. Made entirely of salvaged material, each piece has its own unique story. Take a walk and see what he has chosen to share.
Then travel 5 miles through the scenic hills of Union to Sweetgrass Farm Winery and Distillery, producer of wines, ports, and spirits including the popular Back River Gin, to see what combinations they have planned for you.

 As always, winemakers and cheesemakers are on hand to discuss their wines, cheeses, and pairings. What could be better than a ride in the country, Maine cheese, and wine?
