Father gives son gift of life

Rockland — Former Rockland resident Rev. Allen S. Jervey will be donating a kidney to his son, Allen W. Jervey, also formerly of Rockland, on Jan. 15.

Allen W. Jervey, a 2000 graduate of Rockland District High School was diagnosed with kidney failure in August 2010. During his high school career, Jervey participated in Just off Broadway Players, set a state record for high jump, and was the Tiger Mascot at RDHS basketball games.

He is now assistant principal at Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro, Va., where he lives with his wife and two children.

Rev. Allen S. Jervey served as the pastor of the Soul’s Harbor Church of God on South Main Street in Rockland from 1992 to 2009. He currently pastors a Church of God in Church Hill, Tenn. where he lives with his wife.

The transplant surgery will take place at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, Md.

Good Luck to you both.What a wonderful family they are..I hope Carol is doing well, Allen. I miss seeing you both at Wal Mart!!  That seemed to be the only place I ever saw you!! Prayers are with you both!!

i hope he has great luck with transplant. i recieved a kidney from my mom 31 years ago and it still works.  patriccia williams
