Farnsworth’s Fall Family Festival
Rockland — On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Farnsworth Art Museum invites everyone to attend the second annual Fall Family Festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the grounds of the downtown museum. The festival is intended for families with children age 4 to 9 and is free of charge.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Farnsworth Art Museum’s sculpture garden will be transformed into the fall family festival grounds with free-style pumpkin carving; a labyrinth constructed of hay; corn hole bean bag toss with prizes for every child; live musical entertainment by The Rusty Hinges; a hands-on seasonal craft activity; face painting; and fresh pizza made and sold on site by The Uproot Pie Co, cupcakes sold by the Sabrosa Cupcake Co. and lobster rolls, crab rolls, barbeque pork sandwiches and clam chowder sold by Graffam Brothers Harborside Restaurant. Later on, all are invited back to the sculpture garden at dusk for the lighting of the pumpkins and to enjoy light refreshments.
New to the event this year is a pumpkin-inspired recipe contest. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of sweets, savories and most creative use of pumpkin. Prepared recipes will be judged during the daytime festivities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the winners will be announced during the evening pumpkin lighting. Participants must be 18 years or older to enter the recipe contest.
The rain date for this event will be Saturday, Oct. 27. For more information on the recipe contest or to volunteer at this event, call Special Events Manager Niki Janczura at 596-6457 ext. 143.
