Fargo ace, Gator Open, women's results at RGC
Rockland — Another hole-in-one, a low scramble score in a popular annual benefit tournament and weekly women's association play were among the recent action at the Rockland Golf Course.
Earl Fargo recorded his first career ace on Sept. 10 when he played the 125-yard, par-3 18th hole at RGC. He used a 5-iron for the tee shot, which was witnessed by his playing partners Bob Wiggins, Len Goeke and Bob Cremonni.
On Sept. 8 in the 19th annual Gator Open, the team of Steve Fiske, Jim Blanchete, Troy Witham and Jason McKnight finished first gross 57; Bill Brown, Ed LaFlamme, James Brown and Chris Feener, second gross 65; and Neil Welt, Jorgen Heidemann, Victor Goldsmith and Joe Smith, third gross 65.
The pin winners were: Blanchete, 8 feet 6 inches on the fifth hole; Arnold Adams, 3-2.5 on the ninth; J. Brown 8-7 on the 10th; and Heidemann, 16-8 on the 18th.
On Sept. 6 in women's association play, a gross, net and putts event, the results were:
A Flight – Arlene Adams, first gross 89; Donni Witham, second gross 92; Virginia Goeke, first net 68; and Bobbi Andrus, second net 71. Goeke had the fewest putts with 27.
B Flight – Mary Kaufman, first gross 100; Wendy Dewing, second gross 111; Pat Ashton, first net 63; Jan Bradeen and Joanna Schleif, tied for second net 79. Ashton finished with the fewest putts with 27.
The pin winners were: Bradeen 24-9 on the fifth; Linda Durrell 13-7.5 on the 10th; and Jan Searle 35-4.5 on the 18th.
