Family Literacy Night a success at Cushing and Thomaston schools

March brought a Family Literacy Night to both Cushing Community School and LLS. It was a great opportunity for students and parents to share in literacy activities for a few hours.

Families were pre-registered and given a schedule of sessions based on choices they chose during registration. Most sessions involved families making things or using materials that they were able to take home. All families received a literacy take home pack when they arrived, which included a book among other useful items.

One session was a sit down dinner that also included more literacy information and activities. There was a book swap station for families to pick free books to read together at home. The night was complete with several great door prizes.

These successful events were organized by Amanda Knowlton at Lura Libby School and Darcy Simmons at Cushing Community School.
