Experience Simons' pilgrimage
Waldoboro — All are invited to come to a brief overview of and hear some experiences from the pilgrimage (Camino de Santiago) taken by Waldoboro resident Beury Simons and his friend, Ken Parker, this year.
They began their pilgrimage Aug. 15 and arrived in Santiago on Sept. 26, having walked the ancient Camino Frances, one of the favorite pilgrimage routes, beginning in Pamplona, Spain and ending at the cathedral in Santiago, Spain.
Pilgrims, "peregrinos", from all across the world shared their stories on the pilgrimage and lived together for 41 days while the Spanish people supported and encouraged them. Meticulous plans fell apart as the Camino, more than 1,000 years old, took over, offering the blessings of love, simple gifts, compassion and wisdom.
Beury's talk will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro Public Library at 958 Main St., Waldoboro. There will be time for discussion and questions, and references for further exploration. For more information, please call the library at 832-4484.
