Rockport — The Everyman Repertory Theatre launched its first Kickstarter campaign April 3 with a goal of raising $5,000 to fund its production of “L’Histoire du Soldat (The Soldier’s Tale)” by Igor Stravinsky and C.F. Ramuz. The production will open June 21 at Pascal Hall with actors from the Everyman Rep’s company, music performed by Maine Pro Musica and a dance troupe from all around the state, including dancers from Women’s Works in Belfast.

Kickstarter is a grass roots fundraising web application that allows artists and designers to raise money for their projects using pledge campaigns. Pledges can be as small as $1 and as large as donors wish. Rewards include show T-shirts, complimentary tickets, signed posters, shout-outs on Facebook and invitations to exclusive patron events.

The campaign page has a video of some key personnel explaining the project, as well as a host of details about the production. Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing crowdfunding site, so the troupe has until Saturday, May 3, to raise the money to make its project happen.
