Evans P. Grant
Rockport — Evans Parker Grant, 94, passed away Jan. 29, 2014, at Togus VA Hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1919, he was the son of Mildred Elizabeth Aarey and Earl Parker Grant. Evans was a graduate of Rockport High School in 1938.
He served in the Army from 1941-1945, being stationed in Germany. He received the Good Conduct Medal, as well as the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Evens worked at McNeil's Garage in Camden, and was employed by the Camden schools as a school bus driver. He worked on boats at the Dodge estate and was a boat captain for the Carles Dana Gibson estate on Seven Hundred Acre Island. He also worked for Tony and Ann Crimmins as a caretaker, his last job before retiring.
He married the love of his life, Mildred Jean Durkee, May 24, 1946. Mildred was from Islesboro.
Evans was predeceased by three brothers, David, Lloyd and Phil Grant; a daughter, Mildred Elizabeth; and a son, Ralph "Butch" Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; a son, Bowman "Boze"; two daughters-in-law, Bea and Roxanne; two granddaughters, Pam Grant and Jeanie Harlow; a grandson, Ralph Grant; 10 step-grandchildren, Debbie Lermond, Alan, Rodney and Shawn and April Berry, Michael and Tanya Young, Brian and Jennie Young, and Tim and Michelle Young; several great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Eve Crimmins.
There will be no service.
