End-of-summer rite: Maine Sport Triathlon Sept. 1Popular event takes place in, around Barrett Cove on Megunticook Lake
Camden — The 33rd annual Maine Sport Triathlon will be Sunday, Sept. 1 at 9 a.m. at Barrett's Cove on Megunticook Lake.
The triathlon, sponsored by Maine Sport Outfitters, consists of a half-mile swim in Megunticook Lake, a 26-mile bike trek through Camden, Hope and Lincolnville and a 6.6-mile run through the rolling hills of Camden.
The race is limited to the first 200 participants.
Racers can preregister online at active.com or at 8 a.m. the morning of the race. There are categories for individual and team racers.
The entry fee is $40 for individuals and $70 for a team.
Some of the race features include category prizes, t-shirts to all participants, postrace refreshments and a merchandise raffle.

The directions to the launch/landing area at Barrett's Cove from downtown Camden include taking Route 52 north toward Lincolnville Center. Barrett's Cove is approximately three miles from downtown Camden.
