Eleanor Beal Gamage
Rockland — Eleanor Beal Gamage was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Jonesport; she was a true Downeaster.
She moved at age 4 to the lighthouse on Matinicus Rock, where her father was stationed. At age 12, Eleanor came ashore to attend Rockland High School. Rockland became her home for the rest of her life.
She loved her grandchildren, her flowers, Zoe next door and going to bean suppers with her friends.
Living independently, she mowed and trimmed her lawn and gardens and kep a clean, organized house until the age of 98 1/2.
Last June, declining health dictated a move to Windward Gardens in Camden, where she passed away on May 6, 2014. Many, many, many thanks to the wonderful staff at Windward.
