St. George — Addiction took another life Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Edward A. Rogers Jr., our beloved son and brother, left us due to a heroin overdose.
Eddie was born March 30, 1968, in Rockland to Phyllis Robinson Champagne and Edward Rogers Sr. He attended St. George Elementary School and local high schools. Eddie was a commercial fisherman for many years along the east coast and Alaska. Well-known in the St. George community, Eddie was always willing to lend a helping hand and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Myrtle and Edwin Robinson, paternal grandmother, Helen Roderick, and stepfathers Gerald Ryan and Ralph Champagne.
He is survived by his mother of Tenants Harbor, father of Arizona; sisters Stephanie and her husband, Stephen Stimpson, of Cushing, Patty Ryan of Belfast, Mary and her husband, Louis Labady, of Portland; nieces and nephews Chris and Chelsea, Tommy, Matt and Elliott, Holly and Bert, Josh and Aly, Zach, Alyson, Anna and Rosalie. He also leaves a special cousin, Lillian Black, of Florida. In addition to family, he leaves behind a close circle of friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 19, at 3 p.m. at the Ridge Cemetery in Martinsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition, 91 Camden St. Suite 203, Rockland, ME 04841 or at knoxrecovery.org.
