Math course offered by Five Town adult education

ROCKPORT — Need to improve math skills for college or employment?

Five Town Community School District Adult Education is offering three different sessions of Math Boot Camp, all starting in January. This fast-paced math refresher class is designed to give students the background needed to pass the Accuplacer math portion of the college entrance exam. Each student will receive a review of math from the basics through algebra 1, and gain confidence in their overall math ability.

There will be weekly homework and quizzes designed to prepare participants for the Accuplacer math test, which will be given at the end of the session. Teachers promise not to yell  like real boot camp, but successful completion and a passing math score on the Accuplacer at the end of the course means they can present students with a special “Boot Camp” survivor T-shirt, compliments of Five Town CSD Adult Education.

Math Boot Camp is offered on Tuesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 22, Wednesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 23, or Wednesdays 6 to 8 p.m. beginning Jan. 30. All classes run for 13 weeks with no classes during school vacation weeks. Daytime classes are in the Adult Learning Center, 7 Lions Lane (off Knowlton Street) in downtown Camden; evening classes are at Camden Hills Regional High School, 25 Keelson Drive (off Route 90), Rockport. Contact Five Town CSD at 236-7800, option 5 or fivetowns.maineadulted.org for more info or to register.
