Excel, Word classes offered

ROCKLAND — Regional School Unit 13 Adult Education is offering sessions of Microsoft Excel and Word classes at Rockland’s McLain Building with instructor Cathy VanDyke. Word I begins on Tuesday, Nov. 6 and Excel I on Thursday, Nov. 8. Classes will run for a total of six weeks from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Learn loads of features that can make your work more efficient and faster. These classes will help participants learn the basics of building spreadsheets from the ground up, creating and editing, as well as making charts and graphs in Excel; and learning graphics, creating flyers, letters, bullets, indents, and other basic formatting tools in Word. Certificates are granted upon successful completion of the course.

Spanish classes available

WALDOBORO — No hablo español o sólo un poco? Well change that by registering for Central Lincoln County Adult Education course Spanish Beginner or Spanish Intermediate. Both classes are being offered jointly with School Administrative District 40 Adult Education and will be held at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.

Beginner Spanish focuses on basic elements, giving emphasis to development of spoken language skills. Classroom practice spans the gamut from the traditional through situational exercises and ‘total physical response’ techniques. Instructor Paul Garcia makes a living as a translator and interpreter. Class begins Wednesday, Nov. 14 and runs Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Dec. 12.

Intermediate Spanish expands upon the elements of basic Spanish introduced in the Beginners course, giving greater emphasis to development of spoken language skills. Class begins Thursday, Nov. 15 and runs Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Dec.r 13.
