Middle School students from Youthlinks’ thank Oakland Park Bowling Lanes in Rockport. Youthlinks is a part of the Rockland After-school Alliance, which offers a variety of programs throughout the year. The Youthlinks bowling club ran for 10 weeks culminating in a behind the scene tour of the bowling lanes. The tour was lead by Ron Hastings, an employee of the bowling alley. The students were very excited to see the “secret” back room where the mechanical workings can be viewed.

School bands to host jazz dinner

ROCKPORT — The Camden-Rockport Middle School and Camden Hills Regional High School jazz bands will be hosting a jazz, spaghetti dinner to be held in the Wave Cafe at Camden Hills Regional High School Thursday, March 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The ensembles will be playing a variety of popular jazz repertoire culminating in a combined performance of “Killer Joe."

Tickets for the dinner may be purchased in advance at Hav II or K2 Music in Camden for $10. Tickets may also be purchased at the door ($11).

Gross named to dean's list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

TROY, N.Y. — Stephen Gross, of Camden, has been named to the dean's list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the fall 2013 semester.

The dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below "C." Gross studies undeclared.

Early spring session starts March 3 at Sweet Tree Arts.

HOPE — Learn bagpipes, American Sign Language, watercolors, film, printmaking, play in the mud, and share stories at Sweet Tree Arts in Hope. There is open studio times on Mondays for families to drop in. Preschool, after school and adult programs offered. Programming for all ages and abilities shared and explored.

New England School of Communications honors list

BANGOR — The New England School of Communications announces its honors list for fall 2013.

Garrett Anders of Rockport in the BSCT - Video Production program was named to the honors list.

Dean Koenig of South Thomaston in the BSCT - Video Production program was named to the honors list.

Sarah Judkins of Union in the BS Comm - Marketing Comm program at the New England School of Communications was named to the high honors list.

Trevor Winchenbaugh of Union in the BSCT - Audio Engineering program was named to the high honors list for the fall semester.

Deven Peters of Thomaston in BSCT - Video Production program was named to the high honors list.

Amber Abbotoni of Union in the BSMS - Journalism program at the New England School of Communications was named to the high honors list.

Spencer Roberts of Waldoboro in the BSCT - Video Production program was named to the high honors list for the fall semester.

Nicholas Young of Warren in the BSCT - Video Production program was named to the high honors list.

Cowan makes Tufts dean's list

MEDFORD, MASS. — Tufts University recently announced the dean's list for fall 2013 semester.

Among these students is Ketch Cowan of Thomaston.

Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

Waldoboro student named to Colby College dean's list

WATERVILLE — Calvin C. Robbins, a first-year student at Colby College in Waterville, was named to the dean's list for his outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2013-14 year. Robbins is the son of Bradford and Kelly Robbins of Waldoboro and attended Camden Hills Regional High School.

Students whose grade point averages were 3.68 or higher were named to the dean's list.

Local student recognized for academic achievement

RINDGE, N.H. — Casey Carroll of Owls Head, a freshman at Franklin Pierce University, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2013 semester by maintaining a GPA of at least 3.50 on a scale of four.
