Eclectic Austin-bred blues on tap

Chris Duarte

Rockland — The Monday night blues series at Time Out Pub, 275 Main St., will continue Monday, June 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. with the Chris Duarte Group. Admission is $15.

Since emerging in the mid-1990s from Austin, Texas, a blues guitar hotbed, Chris Duarte has forged new pathways for the blues and scouted numerous fresh trails for creative musical expression. Lauded for the exquisite artistry and vivid tonality of his six-string work, he also has proven his considerable mettle as a songwriter, singer and bandleader. As much a fan as a musician, Duarte takes some cues from his heroes, peers and pals including Jimi Hendrix, fellow Austinite Eric Johnson and Elvis Costello.

Up next is, July 1, Joe Moss ($10). For more information on the weekly series, visit northatlanticbluesfestival.com, which also has the scoop about this summer’s North Atlantic Blues Festival, July 13 and 14; headliner is the great Mavis Staples. Advance blues festival tickets are $25 for either day or $50 for the full weekend. Advance ticket sales run through July 8.
