Drug Take-Back Saturday is Oct. 26
Local and state oolice, along with sheriff offices across Maine, Saturday, Oct. 26 will again take part in the national drug take-back effort, aimed at giving Maine households a safe place to dispose of unwanted prescription drugs.
More than 160 collection points have been set up for residents to drop off the drugs, which will then be safely disposed of. The take-back effort takes place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
This is the seventh time in recent years that Maine law enforcement has taken part in the effort, coordinated by the US Drug Enforcement Administration . Last April, 22,260 pounds of unwanted drugs were collected in Maine.
The following Midcoast locations are taking part in the event:
Camden Police Department, 31 Mechanic St.
Rockland Police Department, Rockland City Hall Council Chambers, 270 Pleasant St.
Thomaston Police Department, Lowe's, 164 New County Road.
Knox County Sheriff's Office, Union Fire Department 567 Common Road, Union, Warren Fire Department, 167 Western Road, Warren and Vinalhaven Fire Department, 56 West Main St., Vinalhaven.
Waldoboro Police Department, 1600 Atlantic Highway.
