Dessert Theater encore postponed to March 21
Rockland — The Class A and Class B winners of Maine Drama Festival’s Midcoast Regional were scheduled to present their one-act plays Tuesday, March 19 at Oceanside High School East, 400 Broadway. Due to the predicted snowstorm, the show has been moved to Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m.
"We're not sure if Lincoln Academy can come but we're on, in any event," said Oceanside High School's Alison Machaiek.
A dessert buffet will be offered between the short plays. Admission at the door will be $8, $6 for students and senior citizens.
Oceanside’s Class A circus-set version of William Shakespeare’s comedy "Twelfth Night" was adapted by drama director Machaiek and her cast. Lincoln Academy’s Class B drama “Silk Cove” was written by the Newcastle school’s drama director Griff Braley. Machaiek and Braley have worked together in the past to co-host Maine Drama Festival competitions; and Machaiek has performed with Heartwood Regional Theater Company, founded by Braley.
Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, the Oceanside and Lincoln Academy troupes will travel to their respective state finals. The Class A final will be hosted by Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, and the Class B final will be at Freeport High School.
