Down East names Fleury editor-in-chief
Camden — Down East: The Magazine of Maine has announced that Paul Doiron has been named editor emeritus and Kathleen Fleury has been named editor-in-chief.
Fleury is only the fifth editor-in-chief for the magazine in its nearly 60-year history, and the first woman to fill its top editorial position.
Editor Emeritus Paul Doiron will work closely with Fleury and the business, marketing, and sales departments, helping set the editorial direction of the magazine and related products, shows, and Websites. Doiron started at Down East in 1999 and has served as editor-in-chief for the past eight years. He is the author of the Mike Bowditch series of crime novels, including "The Poacher’s Son" and "Massacre Pond," his books have been translated into 10 languages.
Fleury was most recently managing editor at Down East, a position she held for two years. She began work at the magazine six years ago and has covered the Maine food scene extensively during that time, including television appearances on "Throwdown with Bobby Flay," as well as "Food Wars" as a celebrity judge. Prior to joining Down East, she worked on book projects with Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentiis, and Ina Garten at Clarkson Potter, a cookbook imprint at Random House in New York City. She is a native of Maine and a graduate of Middlebury College.

Down East Magazine will celebrate its 60th year in 2014.
