Dow files bill to protect Monhegan from windmills

Feb 08, 2017

Augusta — State Sen. Dana Dow (R-Lincoln) submitted legislation Tuesday, Feb. 7, to protect the heritage of Maine’s iconic Monhegan Island.

LR 1613, “An Act To Protect Monhegan Island,” would prohibit the placement of a wind energy test area -- with turbines forecasted to be 585 feet tall -- within 10 miles of the Monhegan Lobster Conservation Area. This measure is necessary to protect the population of migratory birds that use the island as an important landfall along the North Atlantic Flyway.

Is Senator Dow operating in the interests of birds, his constituents, or fossil fuel concerns?  Stick to furniture, Dana.  When it comes to how the natural world interacts with wind turbines, you don't know what you're talking about.
