Double vehicle thefts lead to burglarized home

Rockland — An abandoned sport utility vehicle led to the discovery of two motor vehicle thefts and a burglarized home, said Rockland Police Deputy Chief Wally Tower.

A call reporting a "suspicious" abandoned Dodge Durango Feb. 23 on Bog Road in Rockland directed police to a residence on West Meadow Road, where the SUV and a second vehicle were determined stolen.

The owner of the property, who was not in the area at the time, said both vehicles should be housed in the garage.

Police also saw there was forced entry into the home.

Personal items taken from the residence included television sets, said Tower.

The second stolen vehicle, a Honda CRV, was located at Coughlin Park, a residential complex off Rankin Street.

Tower said the department does have suspects.
