Donovan’s ‘50 Shades of Cray’
Camden — Comedienne, columnist and blogger Erin Donovan will perform her latest show, “50 Shades of Cray,” Saturday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Camden Opera House, Elm Street/Route 1. Her show, which runs 90 minutes without intermission, is a benefit for the Kiwanis Club of Rockland.
The creator of the “I'm Gonna Kill Him” blog, video series and comedy show, Donovan also entertains her readers through a weekly humor column for The Bangor Daily News. She is regularly featured online on Huffington Post, Baristanet, Mamapedia, Scary Mommy and The Mouthy Housewives; and has developed all new material for this show.
“50 Shades of Cray” — cray as in crazy —is a multimedia production featuring the funniest of her work. Loaded with humor about the triumphs and tragedies of middle-aged life, Donovan's stories about leaving New York City, having too many children too fast and learning how to walk and talk (certainly not hike and bike) in Maine will leave everyone laughing.
Donovan's blog was nominated by Nickelodeon for Best New Blog in 2010, and she was named by BlogHer as a 2012 Voice of the Year and won its People's Choice award in Humor. She is nominated for the same award in a different category this year. Donovan is presently at work on a comedic memoir called “Maui & Me: How One Dog Ruined My Marriage and all of My Underwear.” Before turning to a career in writing, Donovan worked in media and public relations for Alloy Entertainment, a youth-focused media agency in New York City.
Tickets are $15, available in advance at HAV II and Spoon in Camden; by calling 470-7066; or online at camdenoperahouse.com. Tickets also will be sold at the door. Produced by the Kiwanis Club of Rockland and sponsored by Bangor Daily News, this show will feature adult, sophisticated humor.
