Don McLain Memorial show returns

Jul 13, 2014
Functional art by Dave Talley of Tenants Harbor is part of this year’s Don McClain Memorial Art Show.

Tenants Harbor — The public is invited to explore and enjoy the Don McClain Memorial Art Show at the Odd Fellows Hall, in the village, Friday, July 18, through July 29. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

There will be a reception July 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. that will help kick off the St. George Days weekend. After the parade Saturday morning, July 19, the Midcoast Band will be playing in front of the Odd Fellows Hall. This show will feature art from more than 30 artists who reside in the town of St. George and includes paintings, photographs, furniture, granite sculptures and more.

This is the 13th annual community art show, which was started by, and now honors, Don McClain, an artist who lived in Tenants Harbor and died two years ago. This show is not juried and artists, both professional and amateurs, have been invited to exhibit up to four pieces of their work. The result is an exciting and fun way to see the varied art produced by many talented people on the St. George peninsula.
