Dodson guests at Community Sing!
Camden — The March gathering of Community Sing! will feature special guest leader, conductor and director Anne Dodson Sunday, March 23, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St./Route 1. Community Sing! is sponsored by Midcoast Community Chorus to bring local community members together for the sheer joy of singing — no preparation, practice or training necessary.
In keeping with MCC’s mission to sing as a community for the community, experienced singers and novices join together in song to experience the healing and transformative power of music. Guest song leader Dodson has been uniting people in song for 26 years at her annual December concert, Anne Dodson & Friends. The longtime Camden resident has been actively involved with folk music as a performer, teacher and radio host; and has recorded nine albums. Dodson spent many years conducting school residency programs, bringing her love of traditional and acoustic music to schoolchildren. She has led choral workshops at folk festivals and camps, as well as local adult education singing classes.
Everybody, whether a professional singer or one who sings only in the shower, is invited to come enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of creating joyful powerful community through song. Admission is free, but a donation is encouraged to help cover costs.
Community Sing! programs are held the fourth Sunday of every month at the First Congregational Church in Camden. For more information, call MCC at 975 0453 or visit mccsings.org.
