Discover seaweed, an unusual treat
Rockland — Join Sarah Redmond from Maine Sea Grant at the Coastal Children's Museum Wednesday, Nov. 6 to explore the ubiquitous, but often overlooked and underestimated species of algae commonly called seaweed.
From 2 to 3 p.m. visitors will explore textures and colors of a variety of seaweed species, identify them and learn how to use them.
Redmond will demonstrate a way of artistically presenting seaweed in a pressing and use them as decoration for a card craft. She will also be bringing some seaweed snacks, and participants can try a few different things with seaweed in them.
Redmond is a seaweed-lover and a marine extension agent for Maine Sea Grant, providing education, outreach, and research for these valuable and amazing sea plants. For more information about Maine Sea Grant visit seagrant.umaine.edu.
This workshop is included in the price of admission and free for members. The Coastal Children's Museum is located at 75 Mechanic St. For more information, visit CoastalChildrensMuseum.org or find them on Facebook.
